LAU CHILE- MEXICO
(2019 - ZELENA BRANA Pardubice)
Latino-American Union
The Latin American Union exhibition presents a bipolar view of Chile and Mexico. The conceptually created Latin American Union refers to the European one, which is an entity for maintaining basic values in society such as peace, freedom, well-being, security and protection of the population. At the same time, it is also an arrangement full of diversity and twisted responsibility. The exhibition highlights the personal relationship to nature, national traditions, heroism, identity and pseudo-romantic ideas about the country on the one hand - negative image of migration, life in illegality and violence, militarization or relationship to death on the other. However, do we want to spoil our illusions, or do we prefer to voluntarily live in a myth that we ourselves help to create? Behind the imagination and www perceptual diversity hides the ever-present uncertainty of the present.
The exhibition, in the style of the international Expo shows, points out the differences, but also the affinities that can be observed in the work of the artists: three female artists from Chile and Mexico and one Mexican-Slovak artist couple. All of them now live and create in the Czech Republic, but they regularly return to their native country and enrich both nations with their perspective. Their work differs in terms of techniques, materials used and processing, but they also show common features and a "Latin American charge". They are partly related to globalized nomadism, manifested by the effort to find a place and the speed of movement. However, the importance lies in self-understanding and in understanding the relationship individual to society.
The exhibition is part of the Multicultural Week festival, the aim of which is to create an informal space for the majority and foreigners living in Pardubice to meet each other. The main organizer of the 10th edition of the festival is Europe Direct Pardubice in cooperation with a number of partners from social, educational, cultural and social institutions.
